Morgan Joanel Wins The Superjesus Support & Drops New Single “Fallin’”

If this were a TV series, you’d think it was fiction.

Imagine writing a song with your partner and starting a national tour, only for a car crash weeks later to leave you in a wheelchair, and him undergoing brain surgery. A few years on, Morgan Joanel is back with Fallin’, a smouldering Americana/Rock track, just as she wins the public vote to support Aussie icons The Superjesus this July.

Written with her then-partner and guitarist, just three weeks before a near fatal car accident; Fallin’ is far from your typical love song. It’s a bruised and beautiful Americana/Rock song, capturing the duality of romance and ruin and the last echo of a love that couldn’t outrun fate. Recorded with long-time producer/collaborator Dave Parkin, the track channels the melodrama of Fleetwood Mac and the raw edges of The Rolling Stones.

Transcending from bluesy guitar riffs and fiery lyrics into a psychedelic tinged lullaby, the sonic journey of Fallin' highlights Morgan's signature harmonies, intensely wrapped in her gypsy rock’n’roll sound. For the first time since her injuries, and now living with chronic pain, Morgan takes the stage to celebrate the release with her full band - international musicians she connected with after living between the UK and Australia.

“I’m literally the only Aussie in the band,” she laughs. “I’ve usually played solo gigs with loop pedals, but these songs are bigger. I wanted to bring the full sound to the stage, and somehow, it found me.”

From sharing stages with Adam Lambert (Queen), Jason Derulo, Anne-Marie and Katy Steele (Little Birdy), to now opening for The Superjesus, Morgan Joanel has always thrived on the edges with her genre-defying, emotionally raw, and impossible to pin down style. Her ability to move between worlds; alternative Americana, rock grit, blues heart, and poetic soul, has earned her a reputation as a shapeshifting force in the Australian music scene.
